The University of Salamanca, in collaboration with the Spanish National Police, aims to contribute to the university-level training of agents and professionals involved in public security functions, through this Specific Training Course on INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AND SECURITY, specifically designed for the performance of police and security duties. The crucial importance of the work carried out by these professionals requires training in subjects with academic content.
Spain requires State Security Forces and Corps with professional knowledge of cybersecurity, acting both as guarantors and facilitators of the development of a cybersecurity culture among citizens. However, as a preliminary step, it is necessary to understand cybersecurity within its context, a technological context, starting from university-level foundations on the importance of new information and communication technologies and their relationship with computer and telematic security, for the benefit of the citizens and companies whom police duties are intended to serve.
Ultimately, the purpose of this training is to provide members of the Spanish National Police with theoretical and practical knowledge of emerging technologies, particularly aspects related to the proper performance of their various duties, foundations in information and communication technologies, and specifically digital security related to the optimal present and future development of their own professional activity.
- The training will be divided into 4 teaching units, which in turn will be divided into subjects. The teaching workload is equivalent to 15 ECTS credits (375 hours), with a ratio of 25 hours per ECTS.
- In addition to these credits, a further 2 ECTS credits of MASTERCLASS teaching will be offered, consisting of a selection of high-value supplementary material for the training of course students, based on criteria of interest and/or current relevance.
- Overall, this would amount to a 425-hour course worth 17 ECTS credits.
- With a weekly distribution of the modules, based on the criterion of 1 week of work equaling 0.5 credits (12.5 hours), with a final week in each module for review and submission of assessment tasks.
- The modules and their subjects will be opened consecutively in accordance with the Curriculum and will remain open throughout the entire training period, so that the material can be reviewed until the course completion date. Likewise, students will be able to access the assessment tests whenever they consider appropriate.
